Acknowledgment of Country

THE NATURAL HISTORY UNIT ACKNOWLEDGES ABORIGINAL AND TORRES STRAIT ISLANDER PEOPLE AS THE TRADITIONAL CUSTODIANS OF AUSTRALIA.

We recognise their ongoing connection and contribution to Country and their culture. We pay our respects to their Elders, past and present. The Natural History Unit acknowledges that we work and operate on stolen lands. We recognise that sovereignty over those lands was never ceded, no treaties were signed and that the struggle for lands and rights of Indigenous peoples around Australia is ongoing. We finally recognise the role of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and traditions in the sustainable management of land and sea. We are therefore committed to working in partnership with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities around Australia.
